Saturday, May 26, 2018 is a big day of events in downtown Burlington. You can catch all the excitement of the 36th annual Snake Alley Criterium on this Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend! So, you can eat pancakes at the Port of Burlington with the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast and then head towards Snake Alley for the bike races! It’s quite a day, and the races are free to watch -- you can come down any time and hang out as long as you like.
The Snake Alley Criterium races begin at 8:30 Saturday morning in downtown Burlington, with the final Category 1/2/Pro race starting at 3:40pm. Hundreds of athletes from all around the country compete for thousands of dollars in prize money in this challenging and repeating 15-block course.
Also, there are kids' races and the Cobblestone Climb that happen at noon. You can even visit the downtown shops and mobile food vendors throughout the day too.
The Iowa Bicylce Racing Association calls The Snake Alley Criterium "one of the most physically challenging races in the Midwest".
